The OnePlus 7 is set to be announced soon, but it seems that a retailer may have given us a first look at the handset. While we can’t comment on the reliability of Giztop, the listing does look legit.
We are all eager to see what the OnePlus 7 holds for us later this year. Until then, it looks like we have a first look at the newest version.
In terms of specs, the listing says it will offer the following:
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC clocked at 2.84GHz, with Adreno 640 GPU
- 128/256GB ROM Variant
- 8/12GB RAM Variant
- 4000 mAh Battery with 44W Dash Charging
- Oxygen OS 9, Powered by Android 9.0
- Rear triple cameras setup 48MP+20MP+5MP
- 16MP pop-up selfie camera
- In-screen fingerprint sensor
- 6.5″ Waterproof AMOLED Display
Keep in mind that these specs do sound quite reasonable, but we have seen Samsung introduce some bold ROM variants with the Galaxy S10. We better see a 1TB or a 512GB variant if it’s going to fully compete on the market.
Considering many of the latest Oppo phones – such as the F11 Pro – have pop-up camera phones, it is definitely possible for the OnePlus to have this technology too since it’s from the same company, BBK Electronics.
So far the pop-up camera and the SoC are the most believable parts of the specs, with the rest definitely subject to change. Considering we are still far from seeing a successor to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 or anything to succeed the 855 so quickly, we can safely assume the 855 will power the whole experience.
We also don’t know whether OnePlus plans on using an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor or if they will stick with the one that currently powers the OnePlus 6T. Considering Samsung has upped the ante with the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, OnePlus will either have to raise or call the chips on the table.
While we don’t have a date for the unveiling of the OnePlus 7, we can only hope that they hold the press conference sooner than later. With other budget phones like the Xiaomi Mi 9 already making waves, it’s looking like a tough year for competition.
