Foldable Phones; merely a disappointment?

Well, we are at a point where we can’t even explain the feeling of facing such a disappointment. Amidst all the hype and excitement for the foldable phones, here comes the first one right in our face.
The Royole cooperation a.k.a Quarter Pounder Corporation founded by the engineering graduates of Stanford University in 2012, gave out a demo of the first ever foldable phone.
To our sheer disappointment, the phone was unable to justify the images and mocks previously received.
The Flex Pai is your very own first ever foldable smartphone come tablet. The company promised to launch a high definition smartphone that can be easily converted to a tablet screen when unfolded. It would provide users with a display of a smartphone and a tablet, both.

It somehow seems that in a race to win the tag of the first folding smartphone, the company missed delivering what was promised.

“The Royale FlexPai fold-able smartphone provides mobile phone users with a revolutionary, different experience compared to traditional phones,” says Dr. Bill Liu, Royole Founder, and CEO.
He also added:” It perfectly solves the contradiction between the high definition large screen experience and portability, which introduces a whole new dimension to the human-machine interface. The phone’s inherent design will forever change the consumer electronics industry, as well as the way people interact with and perceive their world.”

However, despite all such commitments the demo of the phone doesn’t seem to meet the bar. The functionality seems all right, but the display and screen look rough. The phone does perform as promised but is not what we expected it to be. The Flex Pai, first ever folding smartphone costs $1,300.
As the hype about folding smartphones grows, we are anxiously waiting for Samsung to reveal what it has to offer in this niche, by the end of this year. However, with the dual screen phones already in the market, we still have some hope left for the folding smartphones.
Until then?
