Huawei is on fire these days. They just launched their much awaited Huawei Mate series this week. During the launch event of Mate series, Huawei CEO Richard Yu recently spilled the beans about company’s foldable 5G phone venture (Source: Digital Trends).

Mr. Ken Hu also said on World Economic Forum that Huawei first 5G phone will be foldable. After this announcement, we could expect the foldable phones in the market somewhere between June or September 2019.

Samsung and Huawei both are working on the foldable phones. Samsung will be the first to win the race in foldable phones which is supposedly named as Galaxy F. Samsung is expected to launch their first foldable device in January 2019 during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, United States but Huawei confirmed that it will be out next year 2019.
Sources tell Huawei will be introducing two versions of the foldable phone; One will support 5G while the other won’t.
Given the fact that the company has been working on the 5G technology for a while now, it won’t be wrong to say that we saw this coming. Previously, the 5G devices stirred up a debate after the letter from US senators to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
5G services has already been started by Verizon and Huawei will be joining the race soon this year. Right now, Huawei, Samsung, LG, and ZTE are known to be working on phones that are 5G compatible. Xiaomi already announced that their Mi Mix 3 to be 5G compatible.
What do you think? Who will win the foldable smartphone race?
