Oppo Reno phone line-up teased featuring Snapdragon 855 and 10x zoom

It seems that Oppo is teasing a new line-up of devices that’s been branded “Reno.” While details are still scarce on the new devices, we know that the phones will have the newest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, 10x lossless zoom, and a 4,065 mAh battery.

Given the image, we imagine that this is a phone geared towards youth. First reported on XDA Developers, these are just about the only details the public knows for Oppo’s upcoming new line of phones.

Perhaps Oppo is looking to enter the gaming smartphone space, despite many high-end contenders like the ASUS ROG Phone, Xiaomi Black Shark, Poco Phone F1, and Razer Phone 2.

All of these phones had superb gaming hardware under the hood, with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 powering the majority of these devices. Paired with generous RAM and ROM, (6/8GB of RAM paired with 128/256GB ROM variants) these phones were a great buy for gamers.

Unfortunately, these phones had to make cut-backs in the camera department, and none of them really made a mark there, despite their exorbitant prices.

Perhaps Oppo is planning on offering a good all-in-one phone that delivers a powerful gaming performance AND a good camera – that would be the ultimate combination and mean their users won’t have to choose between one or the other.

The phone’s look and early specs have leaked online. The phone shown in the tweet is from MWC Barcelona 2019. Oppo brought the prototype of their camera phone to the show with 10x Lossless Zoom and Ultra-wide Angle.

While it still doesn’t answer questions about the screen size, resolution, panel type, or PPI, we at least now know that the phone has all of the modern essentials.

It also appears to have a dual camera setup, so it might have an on-screen fingerprint sensor. The front of the phone does have a notch, but lacks a front camera. Does this mean there could be a pop-up camera? A notch with a pop-up camera would be a very odd choice.

According to XDA Developers, Oppo plans on unveiling the phone next month (April 2019), so we will soon see the Reno in all its glory – that is, if it fends off the prying eyes of SlashLeaks until then.

Oppo entering a new space would definitely create some healthy competition.
