BBoMacBook Air finally receives a much-needed refresher. Apple’s trademark thin and light MacBook hadn’t received a significant change since 2015, which was three years ago.
Apple’s October Hardware event showcases the MacBook Air as a spectacle to behold.
This year’s MacBook Air is the ‘greenest’ Macbook to date. And Apple fans must be crying tears of joy now, as it will have the beloved and much needed Retina Display. The technology known as Retina Display is a trademark term used by Apple for its LCD and OLED displays.
Retina Displays give such a high pixel per inch density (roughly 300 pixels per inch) that a person can only differentiate between each pixel at very close distances. For this reason, Retina Display is extremely useful in smartphones and tablets.
It was rumored that the new MacBook Air would have slim bezels but still have a high-resolution display. Bloomberg reported these rumors. Lo and behold, these rumors were spot on.
Apple decided to get rid of the ugly Aluminum bezels, to stretch the glass screen to its furthest. It introduced the Retina Display as well, a first for MacBook Air.
This gives for an immersive and breathtaking viewing experience which non-Apple fans would appreciate as well. According to Senior Product Manager Laura Metz, this year’s MacBook Air will have 48% more colors.
This means the display would be more natural and watching documentaries about nature will be as close to real life as possible. It will have 4 million pixels and a 13.3-inch display. This makes a high contrast, great viewing angles and vivid visibility possible.
So apparently Apple’s main focus was the display.
The other noteworthy feature is the 8th generation dual-core Intel i5 processor. The processor will be able to handle the snappy MacOS Mojave with ease.
Another big addition is the introduction of TouchID, Apple’s fingerprint sensor. This will allow users to unlock their MacBook Air with just a touch of their finger. Users will also be able to make online purchases using TouchID.
This latest-gen Mackbook Air will have the latest 3rd gen keyboard and Force Touch trackpad. The keyboard will be 20 percent bigger than previous generations’ keyboards. It will stretch all the way to the top, making for a more comfortable typing experience.
But the proudest moment for Apple is being able to produce the MacBook with 100 percent recycled aluminum. This makes it the “greenest Mac ever.”
The MacBook lineup is Apple’s oldest line of work computers. MacBook Air didn’t receive any significant update since last year’s upgraded processor chip. Macbook Airs were first introduced in 2010 and were an instant hit for casual users and frequent flyers.
Last year’s MacBook Air costs $1000, while this one introduces a ton of features and starts at $1200. The last MacBook Air was released in August 2017 and hadn’t seen a much significant upgrade. This year’s MacBook Air changes the game entirely, while not costing an arm and a leg.
This puts in the same bracket as Microsoft Surface devices. Let’s see who comes out on top.
