Google teases new Pixel phones and a May 7th launch event

Google teases something new for the Pixel universe in a teaser on Google Store. The teaser was posted on Google Store along with new Avengers: Endgame promotional Playmojis for the Playground app. “On May 7, something big is coming to the Pixel universe.” says the page. The new addition to Pixel family is set to be unveiled on May 7th at Google I/O 2019.

These new devices are expected to be Google’s new mid-range phones and are reported to be named as Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL. The new mid-rangers will likely offer the same camera features from last year’s Pixel 3 and Pixel 3XL but with some limited hardware.

A Snapdragon 670 powered mid-range Pixel device was leaked last year with the plastic build quality. The battery of the phone was reported to be 2915 mAh with 4GB of RAM, but these specifications are yet to be confirmed officially. If these rumors about these devices are correct, then the expected price of these mid-range phones might start from $400 to $500.

It’s important to note here that the new phones will rival Apple’s iPhone XR and Samsung Galaxy S10e.

“Help is on the way.” tagline is prominent on the Google Store’s page along with the announcement of exclusive Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame Playmoji. These augmented reality Playmojis are available exclusively for Google Pixel phones in Playground app.
