Google has announced to shut down its smart messaging app, Allo as per 9to5Google reports.
The product didn’t receive as much hype as expected.

Allo was announced during the developer’s conference in May 2016. It was not a long time ago when in April 2018, the company decided to pause investment on the application. In an interview to the Verge, Anil Sabharwal, Vice president of the product, at Google said:

“The product as a whole has not achieved the level of traction that we’d hoped for.”

Allo did come up with some exciting features such as the Google Assistant, and the ability to share Google searches and keep a back-up on Google Drive. As soon as the development on the application paused, the users started to have some major issues with the application. These issues included the undelivered messages. Also, the messages disappeared for some reasons. Many users had trouble in backing up the chat on Google drive. With these issues running, it would not take much time for people to abandon Allo. But, the company has decided to shut down the app itself.

It is not new with Google to shut down its communication apps which include Buzz, Wave, Google+ and now Allo in the list. The company has planned to come up with a better, messaging application which would be known as Chats. This application would be similar to Apple’s iMessage, creating a standard text messaging service for Android users under the Rich Communication Services. Google has reportedly shifted its entire development team to the “Chats” development. Chats is not anything new but a blend of all exciting messaging features on one platform.

With Chats, it seems like Google is making probably the last try to be successful in the communication industry. Not to forget the graveyard of communication applications that Google has previously launched and then shut down. Allo is just the next burial we expect in that chat graveyard.

Stay tuned to know more about the upcoming applications!
