The veteran giant of the gaming industry Blizzard has announced a Diablo game for smartphone devices. The game was announced during Blizzcon today. It will be called Diablo Immortal and will be made for Android and iOS devices.
The game is made in collaboration with mobile game studio NetEase Games.
The game will be the first in the Diablo universe to be created specifically for mobile phones. The action RPG game will be set after the events of Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction and before Diablo III. The game will have six customizable classes. These include Demon Hunter Crusader, Barbarian, Wizard, Monk, and Necromancer.
Blizzard added that it will be adding even more classes in the future. Players will be able to join and leave the Massively Mulitplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG) at any time they want. Players will be able to take part in “dynamic events” across the Sanctuary.
Westmarch will serve as a homebase for the players. In Westmarch players can join clans, craft unique and powerful items, and upgrade their weapons and armor to make them stronger. Players will be able to go on raids in dungeons with their friends to hunt for rare loot.
Blizzard added that the game Diablo Immortal would be updated frequently with new storylines, challenges and loot items. The studio, which is developing the game with NetEase, has opened pre-registration for the beta.
If you sign up, you’ll receive news and updates, and you might earn some extra in-game rewards. Blizzard said a few months ago that it was working on “multiple Diablo projects,” so there could be even more in the works, such as additional Diablo III seasons or even new games.
Blizzard has opened early registration for Diablo Immortal’s beta version. Early sign up could help players earn exclusive in-game rewards. Early sign up will also keep players updated with any news and updates related to the game.
The game developers at Blizzard are reportedly working on several Diablo games, and this franchise will hopefully see a big revival in its popularity. These rumors were reported a few months ago, so it is highly possible a few of these games will be ready sooner than expected.
Blizzard also announced Diablo 3 for the Nintendo Switch at Blizzcon. The game will be priced at $60 which will include Rise of the Necromancer and Reaper of Souls expansion packs and their characters.
As a Nintendo exclusive, it also features Ganondorf-themed armor, a Tri-Force portrait frame, and other extra items from the Legend of Zelda. To get the Diablo 3 Eternal Collection edition, players will have to wait till the end of this year.
