Call of Duty released a companion app for its World War 2 and Black Ops 4 titles. The app was released today on the Play Store, for Android devices and on the App Store for iOS devices. This isn’t the first time that the mega super popular franchise has released companion apps for its games.
But this time the app will be more helpful for anyone looking to up their game (pun intended). Activision, the game publisher behind the massively popular Call of Duty franchise states the app will offer detailed gameplay statistics.

These stats will include loadouts performance, equipment, and weapons. These stats will be personalized to show each gamer how well or how poorly they performed. This will give them a good idea on what their strengths and weaknesses are.
The app will also have heat zones to track bullet trajectory and players’ movement throughout each match. In this way they will be able to improve their skills quickly and efficiently. The app will also have social features that will show users accomplishments of their friends.
This social integration will be pushed up a notch this time around. Players will be able to join with 20 other players to participate in weekly challenges that will earn the best player exclusive rewards. It remains to be seen what these exclusive rewards will be. I am hoping for exclusive weapon skins, which will be very cool.

The company claims that these will be in-game items and rewards from controller grip manufacturer KontrolFreek.
Apart from the rewards, it will give players bragging rights which they can use to tease their friends every time they play together. These bragging rights will be based on kill/death ratios and win/loss stats.
Activision added that it is looking to add a chat feature in the app as well. This will take the whole “playing with friends” experience up another gear. The game publisher hasn’t however given a fixed date when this will be made available.
There will also be the option of managing one’s in-game loadout, within the app.
Currently, the app has a 3 out of 5 rating on the Play Store made by 850 users. This is apparently due to some unexplained bugs, which the company is trying hard to fix. Many users claim that they can’t find a group, so the app tries to force users to be randomly assigned to another group.
Some are having issues while trying to login to the game. While some users report some minor issues with their statistics. The Android version of the Call of Duty Companion App has 10,000 plus downloads already. The size of the download is 71 MB.
The iOS app, on the other hand, seems to be doing pretty well. It has an average rating of 4.3 out of 5 but only 171 users have rated it at of the time of writing. This app will be extremely beneficial for all diehard fans of this quick-paced multiplayer first player shooter.
