Amazon has launched Echo Input Portable Smart Speaker for the Indian market. Originally, the speaker costs ₹5,999 ($84 approx), however, it will be available on Amazon.in only at a price of ₹4,999 ($70 approx).

The portable smart speaker has a built-in 4,800mAh battery. Amazon claims that the speakers will offer up to 11 hours of standup and 10 hours of continuous music playback. You can see battery status by just tapping the power button and the 4 LEDs will indicate the current battery.

Last year, the company released Echo Input, a device without speaker integration which lets users bring Alexa to their own speakers without needing an Echo speaker. Amazon says that the new Echo Input Portable Smart Speaker Edition has the same hardware architecture as the Echo Input.

Echo Input Portable Speaker Edition also comes with music streaming support from Amazon Prime Music, Apple Music, JioSaavn, and Gaana. You can also control it with your voice. A voice command like “Alexa, volume 10,” will increase the volume.

The portable speaker is also compatible with hundreds of smart home devices from TP-Link, Philips, Wipro, Syska and more.

For now, the portable speaker is exclusive to the Indian market but eventually, they will be released to other markets according to Amazon executives.

The pre-orders start on December 4 and the device will be available on December 18.
